Cast: Uday Kiran, Satyaraj, Dia, Brahmanandam, Rajan P Dev, Mumaith Khan & Shakeela Film release date: 29 February 2008 Story: Prabhakar (Uday Kiran) is an youngster who is chased by a girl called Swetha (Dia). Prabhakar realizes that his real father Lakshmi Narayana (Satyaraj) is in a mental asylum. And he does not know about the past of his father. The rest of the story is all about Prabhakar taking his father to Kerala for a special treatment bring his memories back and also to find out the past of his father. Actors: Uday Kiran is good. But he has limited exposure in the second half. Dia is mediocre as the heroine. Satyaraj is impressive as the father of the hero. He has got lots of footage in the second half. Brahmanandam did the spoof of Rajnikant’s Sivaji and he is not good at it. Brahmanandam is very bad at imitating actors (Venu Madhav or Ali are very good at imitating stars). Rajan P Dev did the role of Kerala Ayurvedic doctor. Shakeela is underutilized in the film. Mumaith Khan is ok as an item girl. Story - screenplay - direction: Since Raj Kapoor is a Tamil director and this film is basically a Tamil film, the story is has Tamil orientation. These kinds of stories won’t appeal to us unless it is directed by a guy who has Telugu sensibilities. Direction of the film is poor. Screenplay is mundane. Narration of the film is old-fashioned. The director seems to have got confused in the middle of the film as he is unsure of whether to make Uday Kiran the hero of the film or to make Satyaraj. Other departments: Music of the film is mediocre. Dialogues are average. Cinematography is bad. There is no continuity in camerawork as shots in the same scene have different lighting exposure. Analysis: First half of the film is not up to the mark. The second half of the film has different orientation and it is bad. The movie suffers from Tamil orientation (cast - story - screenplay and direction). Watching Lakshmi Putrudu is like watching a dubbing version of badly made Tamil flick. You can safely avoid watching Lakshmi Putrudu. |
